Beginning in the mid-1920s Aleksandr Vvedensky, Daniil Kharms,

and Konstantin Vaginov became acquainted with the circle of the poet, writer, and

playwright Mikhail Kuzmin, and by the close of this decade, they became regular

visitors to his residence. The interactions between Kuzmin and the Oberiuts has

been sufficiently developed; however, numerous studies have shifted the focus to the

pragmatics of rapprochement with the famous writer by the chinary themselves. For

young poets, Kuzmin was the maestro, and all of them sought his creative influence.

Present study examines the community that developed around Kuzmin from 1924

to 1929. For identifying and describing this community network analysis based on

Kuzmin’s diary and data visualization in the form of graphs were employed. This

methodological approach facilitates the tracing of the trajectory of the young poets’

within Kuzmin’s milieu and dynamics of their relationships. The transition from

creative influence to social contacts provides re-approaching the nature of the liter-

ary circle and legitimacy of inquiries concerning the unique community that emerged

in Kuzmin’s residence in the 1920s. The data obtained also reveal patterns and trends

from the clustering of the literary community in the mid-1920s to Kuzmin’s writing

strategy in Trout Breaks the Ice.
