This collection presents materials from a roundtable discussion dedicated to the multifaceted legacy of the outstanding scientist Pyotr Vladimirovich Boyarsky. The discussion took place in April 2023 at the D.S. Likhachev Russian Research Institute of Cultural and Natural Heritage (Heritage Institute), as part of the "Living Heritage of Memory" project.
The publication includes welcome addresses from the command of the Russian Navy, the leadership of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University named after M.V. Lomonosov, the Museum-Reserve "Museum of the World Ocean", as well as articles authored by representatives of the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography (Kunstkamera) of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Arctic Museum and Exhibition Center, the Murmansk Regional Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, the Murmansk Marine Biological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Northern Fleet, St. Petersburg State University, the Institute of Physics of the Earth of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russia Abroad, the Higher School of Economics, the Museum-Reserve "Museum of the World Ocean", and the Heritage Institute. A special place in the book is occupied by the memoirs of the family and friends of Pyotr Vladimirovich Boyarsky—a renowned Russian scientist, cultural scholar, geographer, physicist, historian of science, writer, polar explorer, and the founder and permanent leader of the Marine Arctic Complex Expedition (MACEE).
The book is addressed to specialists in the humanities and natural sciences, as well as to a wide range of readers interested in scientific heritage as an integral part of Russia's intangible cultural heritage.
