Сходства и различия библейских прецедентных высказываний и библейских фразеологизмов как интертекстуальных маркеров в детективном рассказе
The following article focuses on several points. First, it deals with the research of phraseological units and precedent expressions, second, with the elaboration of possible distinctions between them, since these linguistic units are close to each other. Phraseological units are structurally separable units, which possess sustainability and reproducibility, and which have absorbed implicit cultural meanings. The researchers distinguish two types of phrasing: a narrow type presupposes that phraseological units are the means of structuring a sentence. According to a wide type, phraseological units are represented by author’s phrases, aphorisms, clichés, proverbial expressions, etc. Precedent expressions are the phenomena of purely linguistic nature, the units of discourse that verbalize precedent texts and precedent situations through quotations, sentences or phrases. We analyze phraseological units and precedent expressions of the biblical origin (BPhU and BPE respectively). On the basis of their similarities and differences, we have formulated the criteria for distinguishing between BPhU and BPE: 1. Connection with the source (BPhU can lose the connection); 2. PhU are stored in memory of the speakers as word forms, while PE represent a form of the invariant of perception; 3. Sustainability of the reproduced form (BPE are more dynamic, while BPhU are more static); 4. The degree of expansion of the biblical plot in the detective story. The analysis of detecting these linguistic units consists of two stages: lexicographic analysis, which allows to qualify the unit as phraseological one. The units classified as BPE are divided into two categories: quotations and non-quotation expressions originated from the biblical text. The analysis of the stories by G.K. Chesterton and E.K. Bentley showed that the number of the BPE prevails over BPhU to some extent. BPE contribute to the modification of the biblical plot by revealing the complicating biblical motive. The form of the BPE has a dynamic nature, as precedent situation can be verbalized with the linguistic units different from the original text. At the same time the degree of recognizability of the precedent situation remains at a high level. BPhU increases the level of expressiveness of the detective story through the transformation of the form at the language level, and at the intertextual one, thus enhancing the recognition of the biblical plot in the detective discourse.
