Образование для будущего: взаимосвязь между компетенциями XXI века и общеевропейскими компетенциями владения иностранным языком
The article examines the need to modernise foreign language educational programmes in order to integrate 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration, aligning with the requirements of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). The aim of this research is to analyze the key competencies of both systems and identify the core of micro- and macroskills necessary for developing both soft skills and language proficiency. The research is based on level B2, which is considered critical for students planning to continue their studies in an academic environment, as well as levels C1-C2, which are necessary for a deep understanding of academic and professional contexts. The main method is a comparative analysis of CEFR descriptors and research literature on 21st century skills, including the classification of key competencies, which in turn were divided into micro- and macro-skills. As a result of the research, a table of crucial micro- and macroskills necessary for successful foreign language acquisition and adaptation to modern challenges has been created. The obtained results showed that the following language skills are fundamental for mastering 21st century skills at level B2 and above: topic- based speaking, results analysis, active listening, and idea development. The results of the research underscore the importance of synergizing traditional language competencies with 21st century skills in specialist training. Modern educational programs should emphasize the simultaneous development of linguistic and soft skills to prepare students for the challenges of the 21st century.
