Транскультурная чувствительность в обучении французскому языку в поликультурном классе
The main purpose of the study is to identify the approaches and strategies that are applied to overcome cultural and linguistic barriers in a multicultural classroom in the context of teaching French as a foreign language at a higher educational institution. To achieve the goal, triangulation of methods was used (interviews with the experts, observations of French language classes, and an online survey among students of a multicultural environment). The article examines the theoretical and practical aspects of the implementation of transcultural sensitivity in the process of learning French in a multicultural classroom in a university environment. It focuses on a polycultural class dynamics, the main challenges faced by teachers and students, as well as strategies and approaches aimed at overcoming cultural and linguistic barriers. Extralinguistic difficulties are taken into account, namely a number of problems with the adaptation of international students, which negatively affect the educational process. Special attention is paid to the use of authentic materials, communicative approach, gamification and individualization of learning, as well as the development of self analysis and critical thinking skills. The features of Francophone culture and French language behavior are considered. Finally, the results of the applied methodology in the multicultural educational environment, as well as their impact on the development of teachers’ and students’ transcultural sensitivity are discussed.
