The article examines the relationship between Joseph Brodsky's early poem "Stanzas" and Mikhail Ancharov's song based on Vera Inber's verses "Bystro-bystro denelzya...". The identity of the metrical and compositional structure, as well as many common motifs, suggest that the song, popular in the late 1950s, is one of the sources of Brodsky's poem, and his repeatedly recorded dislike of this early text is a form of denial of the connection with the bard subculture.
