«Смысл нам спорить»: оценка целесообразности вступления в спор

This study has two aims. First, we present several types of reasons that determine whether it is appropriate for an agent to enter into the dispute. Second, we propose a way to compare these reasons depending on several parameters. This allows the agent to make a justified decision to enter into the or not. The types of
reasons we have identified are: the priority of achieving certain direct or indirect goals of the dispute; the character of the deliberation (competitive or communitarian); strength of the agent’s position; the ratio of the importance for the agent of subjective motives and objective reasons; a set of available argumentative strategies in a dispute; free or forced character of the dispute; discursive mode of the dispute; level of communicative competence of the agent. At the first stage of assessment, each of the available strategies is assessed taking into account its contribution to the
achievement of certain direct or indirect goals of the dispute. This assessment also accounts two other parameters: the strength of the agent’s position and the character of deliberation. At the second stage, this assessment is adjusted taking into account the parameters of the discursive regime of the dispute and the ability of the agent
to change this regime.
