The commented famous work by S.J. Gould and R.C. Lewontin is crucial not only to sociobiology critique but to polemics on evolutionary theory in general. Reflection provoked by Gould and Lewontin’s paper in the field of philosophy of biology enables to clarify the relation between the adaptationist program and biological reductionism.

This paper is devoted to the study of divine revelation theories of the German philosophers and theologians as F. H. Jacobi, F. D. Schleiermacher and Chr. H. Weisse (the end of the XVIIIth - the frst half of the XIXth centuries). These thinkers understand the revelation as the inner common to all mankind ground of the religious life (faculty of religious feeling, selfconsciousness or integral spiritual experience of religious community). If the revelation is natural, it is presented in all religions, which can be сonsidered as possessing the equal spiritual status. The conception of the “unique true revelation” throwing down false pagan superstitions loses steady its positions. At the same time Schleiermacher and Weisse project the new ‘philosophy of religion’ being a particular branch of knowledge. Teir ideas were developed by the frst classic of science of religion F. M. Müller, who created the new discipline using methods of comparative linguistic at the matter of Vedic and Sanskrit Buddhist texts. The appearance of the science of religion is therefore a consequence of progressive secularization of Evangelical theology merging into philosophy of religion. Te main marker of this secularization is the rethinking of concept of revelation.

In the article the philosophical aspects of urban sound production are being discussed. The sound is considered as an inseperable part of urban processes, with its special procedural and symbolic meaning. The author proposes concepts of «sonic agency» and «sonic violence» and inscripts them into the philosophical tradition of investigations devoted to power relations. The process of sound making in the city space is being described as an act of sonic violence and is being approached with the help of examples on various spacial and temporal scales.

The paper presents an analysis of the differences in the approaches to the negativity in philosophy of Heidegger and Hegel from the point of view of the former one. The paper is based on Heidegger’s works on negativity in Hegel. It shows the differences between the approaches and demonstrates the place of negativity in Heidegger’s own philosophy. The paper argues that Heidegger advocates for a «radicalization» of negativity. He also claims that negativity has a transcendental character and calls it an emptiness «pass-giving» to the being. The paper also claims that negativity should bring to light the structure of the ontic-ontological distinction (at the same time, negativity must be something non-existent). In conclusion, the paper provides a sketch of the anthropological aspect of Heidegger’s negativity.

This paper examines so-called manipulation arguments against compatibilism in free will debates. In the first part of the paper, I explore conceptual grounds of manipulation arguments. The second part contains two most insightful manipulation arguments: four-case argument and second zygote argument. Then I sketch internalists and externalists compatibilists answers. Finally, in the third part of this article I provide “diffusion” argument counter externalist position and discuss some of its features with possible answers.

Time in Arendt's texts from ontological or gnosiological question ordinary for philosophy becomes a sphere of philosophical and political, anthropological reasonings. The article is devoted to disclosure of this specified “transformation” and consideration of concepts of time applied by Arendt as intrinsic aspects of active and mental human life. The author reveals the sense of natality in the Arendt's theory of action, gives the interpretation of Kafka's metaphor “nunc stans” (a gap between the past and future) as a definition of category of thinking, analyzes the influence of Augustine's and Nietzsche's philosophy of time on the formation of the topic of temporality in such Arendt's works as “Vita activa” and “The Life of the Mind”.

The key thesis of the article is that the epoch, defined by the American Marxist Fredric Jameson as postmodern, can be characterized as a “sense of the end”. And since Jameson himself in his book “Postmodernism, or the cultural logic of late capitalism” does not thoroughly analyze the discussions about the end of history, ideology, etc., the author does it instead of him to conrm or overturn this thesis. Considering the key concepts of the discussions that took place in social, cultural and political theory (the end of ideology, the end of art, the end of social, the end of history), the author traces their relationship with the term postmodern and discovers between the concepts not always noticeable, sometimes too fine, but still strong connections. As a result, it is concluded that these discussions, despite the fact that they took place in completely difierent areas of social knowledge, create “polarities” and form a single discursive space, which can be characterized as a “discursive field of postmodern”. The completion of the discussions at the beginning of the XXI century shows the transition from the postmodern to a new stage of intellectual history.

The research compares two approaches to the formation of concepts – founded by enactivism embodied theory of concepts (embodied concepts) and based on a linguistic approach the theory of symbolic concepts (symbolic concepts). It is demonstrated that in contrast to sensory-motor interpretation of concept grounding, linguistic approach, which considers thinking as a languagelike process, evidently discover the causes of the natural semantics instability. There is a key argument comes from from the point of view of traditional Fregean istinction between the meaning (Bedeutung) and sense (Sinn).

Коваль С. В. Вестник Московского университета. Серия 7: Философия. 2020. № 2. С. 63-71.

This article refers to the English-American analytic philosophical and legal tradition, namely, the philosophy of law of Ronald Myles Dworkin (1931–2013). Dworkin introduces the category of principles as a tool for criticizing legal positivism of Herbert Lionel Adolphus Hart (1907–1992) and as the theoretical basis of his legal theory. The article touches the most important distinction between principles and legal rules (hereafter “rules” or “legal rules”), which is very important for the evidential power of Dworkin’s criticism. If there were no differences between principles and rules, the rule of recognition could be a relevant criterion for principles and therefore Dworkin’s criticism would not be consistent. This article analyzes two Dworkin’s articles “The Model of Rules” and “Social Rules and Legal Theory” and the critical article of the legal positivist Joseph Raz “Legal Principles and the Limits of Law”.
