17th International Conference, SCSM 2025, Held as Part of the 27th HCI International Conference, HCII 2025, Gothenburg, Sweden, June 22–27, 2025, Proceedings, Part II. Social Computing and Social Media. LNCS, volume 15787
The 17th International Conference on Social Computing and Social Media (SCSM 2025)
was an affiliated conference of the HCI International (HCII) conference. It provided an
established international forum for the exchange and dissemination of scientific infor-
mation related to social computing and social media, addressing a broad spectrum of
issues expanding our understanding of current and future issues in these areas. The
conference welcomed qualitative and quantitative research papers on a diverse range of
topics related to the design, development, assessment, use, and impact of social media.
A considerable number of papers this year focused on research on the design, devel-
opment, and evaluation of social media, also delving into aspects related to user experi-
ence and user behavior. The undeniable influence of Artificial Intelligence on the tech-
nological landscape prompted numerous works focused on the use of AI and Language
Models in social media, investigating their multifaceted impact on the field. The power
of social media and its positive impact across various application domains inspired con-
tributions regarding education and learning, culture, business, and eCommerce. In the
context of learning, the topics explored included academic writing, learning experience,
and the impact of AI in education-related social media and platforms. As editors of
these SCSM proceedings volumes, we are pleased to present this unique and diverse
compilation of topics offering valuable insights and advancing our understanding of the
current and future issues in the field.
Two volumes of the HCII 2025 proceedings are dedicated to this year’s edition
of the SCSM conference. The first volume focuses on topics related to Designing and
Developing Social Interactions, Social Media in Learning and Education, and Supporting
Communication and Psychological Well-Being. The second volume focuses on topics
related to User Behavior and Experience in Social Media, and AI and Social Network
Analysis.
The papers in these volumes were accepted for publication after a minimum of two
single-blind reviews from the members of the SCSM Program Board or, in some cases,
from members of the Program Boards of other affiliated conferences. We would like to
thank all of them for their invaluable contribution, support, and efforts.
