Против номиналистической теории эстетического опыта — в защиту дескриптивного подхода
The nominalistic theory of aesthetic experience proposed by Nekhaev seems to be rather odd for two reasons. First, the arguments laying in its inner foundations seem to be dubious. Second, there are claims following from the theory that must contradict either its very foundations or our basic intuitions regarding aesthetic disagreements and preferences. For that reason, the critique of the nominalistic theory of aesthetic experience proposed in this paper is subdivided into inner and outer critique: the first one shows flaws in the arguments by Nekhaev while the second one demonstrates counterintuitive statements following from the theory. In conclusion, the paper provides an outline of how phenomenological hermeneutics could lay foundations for an alternative approach to the definition of aesthetic experience.
