The textbook offers practical material for the formation of professionally oriented competence in written translation from English into Russian. The tasks are aimed at developing the skills to apply various transformations in translation and to carry out pragmatic adaptation of the translation. The textbook also contains creative tasks concerning allusions, metaphors and wordplay. Special attention is paid to the creation of a literate text in compliance with the linguistic and speech norms of the literary Russian language. The manual includes fragments of translations of contemporary works of fiction for comparative analysis and editing. It also includes examples of translations of Cockney dialect, Manglish Creole, and individual deviations from the norms of literary English. The textbook is intended for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students studying Translation and Translation Studies, Intercultural Communication and Linguistics.
