The paper collection “Civilizations of the East: A View from the 21st Century” embraces papers presented at the international scientific conference of the same name, held by the School of Oriental Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, HSE University, on October 21-22, 2022 and coincided with the 30th anniversary of the HSE University and the 20th anniversary of the Faculty in 2022. The articles in this collection cover a wide range of topics: problems of traditional Orientalism; issues of Asian and African development in the XXI century; new approaches in Oriental studies; methodological issues of teaching Oriental studies disciplines (including Oriental languages) and others.
