At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

Советские годы Р.Ю. Виппера

С. 193–226.
Sharova A. V.

The life of the Russian historian R.Yu. Vipper (1859-1954), a specialist in world history, was split into several periods in connection with the political events of the twentieth century. This article attempts to shed light on the events of two "Soviet periods" (1917-1923 and 1941-1954) of his life and work. Without touching on the actual scholar’s historical and methodological innovations, the author has tried to cover as fully as possible the issues related to the departure of the historian's family to Latvia in 1923, as well as the circumstances of his triumphant return in 1941 and the vicissitudes of "growing into" Soviet science and the daily life associated with it, including criticism of his works in the late 1940s. Vipper's move to Moscow coincided with a period in the history of Soviet historical science, when the appearance of a representative of the "old school" rather proved the victory of Soviet science, which could afford the presence of a certain number of qualified Non-Marxist specialists. This is evidenced by the rapid arrangement of the historian in the system of scientific institutions of the USSR, including the Academy of Sciences. However, the historian himself accepted to some extent the prescribed rules of conduct, did not resist the appearance of references to the classics of Marxism-Leninism in his articles. And the outbreak of the II World war promoted to the construction of Vipper’s image as of a patriot of Russia's national interests, which was undoubtedly facilitated by the famous book about Ivan the Terrible. However, the post-war period of the scientist's life and work turned out to be filled with true drama, since he failed to avoid criticism within the framework of ideological campaigns.

Nevertheless, there were several ideological practices ...
