Неокантианская перспектива теории научных революций Куна
С. 681–684.
Michael Friedman made an attempt to combine Kantian transcendental philosophy and Kuhn's historiographical model in a view of changes in science. His idea of a rational revision of scientific principles contrasts with Kuhn's idea of the existence of universal sets of values that ensure scientific progress. Friedman appeals to philosophical developments of the metatheoretical level to solve the problem of rationality. However, his argumentation of rational scientific development becomes a retrospective transcendental description of rational scientific progress.

Kant's philosophy of human experience and knowledge is based on fundamental distinctions. The most important of these are the distinction between the faculty of sensory intuition and the faculty of understanding, and the distinction between the constitutive a priori principles of understanding and the regulative a priori principles of reason. In the late 19th and ...

The approach of Michael Friedman to the analysis of physical theories should be considered in the broad context of the nature of our theoretical knowledge. In particular, this concerns the epistemic status of the principles constituting empirical theories. Friedman replaces the analytic-synthetic distinction with a distinction between «constitutive principles» and empirical statements proper. He distinguishes ...

This “Forum” considers attitudes towards theories and theoretical knowledge among ethnologists and anthropologists. Answering questions from the forum organisers, its participants discuss the need for a common “grand theory” that would unite the entire anthropological community, the tense relationship between theory and description, the causes, manifestations and effects of theory fatigue — and also the ...

Emerging Adults’ Autonomy in Romantic Narrative Identities: Choices Between Emotions and Rationality
Victoria G. Yerofeyeva, Ekaterina M. Tsyganova, Bochaver A. A., Trends in Psychology 2025
This study examines how emerging adults define autonomy through their roman
tic relationship choices. Emerging adulthood provides a lot of opportunities to try
different things, but the diversity of alternatives makes it difficult to choose. Under
these conditions, autonomy becomes a necessary personal characteristic. We set
out to examine how young people construct romantic narratives identities based
on the characteristics ...

The paper presented to the reader’s attention pursues two goals. The first is a substantiation of the productivity of the concept “epistemic culture” (hereinafter – EC) as a tool of historico-philosophical intercultural research by the example of its application to the interpretation of the meanings of Indian logico-epistemological texts. The second is a demonstration of ...

The article analyses the contribution of professor V.S. Shvyrev (1934–2008) in the development of the theory of rationality. In the 1970s–80s, he introduced the concept of “open rationality” into the thesaurus of domestic epistemological research, critically starting from the idea of rationality as a compliance with a fixed set of unchanging criteria (“closed rationality”). The ...

Friedman's notion of a constitutive a priori principle points to his conception of scientific development. In general, the theory of meaning is based on the idea that natural language has rules, and the "meaning" of a word is due to the function of the rule that governs its use. These rules determine which statements are ...
