Article describes semiotic approach to the study of body of texts from the field known as Western esotericism, developed by the famous Italian philosopher Umberto Eco.
Contemporary natural science leaves less and less room for God in the world. Theologians cannot and do not want to accept that. The author is looking for a base and is considered the way for the emergence of a dialogue between theology and contemporary science.
The system of natural sciences distance learning for foreign citizens at the Technical University is represented. The prospects of this type of training with innovative educational technologies implementation are shown.
This article proposes a comparative analysis of text and images in two manuscripts of the De arte venandi cum avibus, a famous treatise on falconry by the Emperor Frederic II Hohenstaufen. It deals with the codex Città del Vaticano, B.A.V., Pal. lat. 1071, produced in Southern Italy for the king Manfred, son of the Emperor, and its French copy (Ms Paris, B.n.F. fr. 12400), made in Flanders in the beginning of the XIVth century. Scenes of dedication, portraits of princes and clients, disposition of miniatures on the surface of the parchment, their relation to the text, appearance of figurative initials in the French manuscript – all these sometimes small but important details allow to understand the mechanics of cultural dialogue and of the transmission of scientific ideas and artistic features from one cultural milieu to another.
The paper focuses on the concept of leading European researcher of the history of Western esotericism Wouter Hanegraaff which was presented in the monograph «Esotericism and the Academy». This concept is briefly formulated as follows: Division by Alchemy and chemistry occurs through two types of scientific research. The first type is focused on the opening of the wisdom of the ancients in the interpretation of texts of earlier eras. The second type now known as chemistry is based on the language of experimental science. Hanegraaff’s approach, therefore, is opposed at the same time to the theories of positivists, Jung and Eliade, as well as the "new historiography" of Newman and Principe.
Transhumanism is the brand-new term, which appears only in the beginning of the 21st century. The adherents of this term consider further development of humanity in a close contact with nanotechnology. People were always interested in how to improve the quality of life and prolong it. Medieval alchemists didn’t find the philosopher’s stone, the Holy Grail is still a legend. The Third Reich scientist’s experiments influenced in the development of medicine, but didn’t reveal the secret of immortality. In the 21st century scientists came more than ever closer to the creation of perfect man with the help of nanotechnology. How do philosophers consider this breakthrough in philosophy of technics?
