The article addresses the determination of features of competition, its types and methods of raising the efficiency on the model of medical services market, which is forming in S.Petersburg nowadays. These features can arise because of a series of skewed incentives, faulty assumptions, unfortunate strategy choices, and counterproductive regulations that are understandable but inconsistent with how value is actually created in delivering health care.
