Оптимизация подходов к обучению написанию проектов научного исследования на английском языке в неязыковом вузе: когда на помощь приходят сетевые тренажеры
This paper reports the results of the development and implementation of an online tutor aimed at facilitating academic writing instruction to EEL students from non-linguistic programs. The tutor was designed as a technology-enhanced learning aid offering students support with writing English language research proposals to diploma projects. The online content included genre-based input materials and a variety of self-check exercises. Participants were 4th year students enrolled in an academic writing course at the faculty of world economy and international affairs of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. To examine the affordances of the online tutor and its effects on participants’ learning gains, students’ actual writing pieces were analyzed. Findings point to participants’ improvement in genre-based academic writing and underscore the potential of the tutor for supporting EFL learners’ autonomous efforts at academic writing. This paper contributes to current research on the development and implementation of technology-based tools to facilitate academic writing instruction to EFL students from non-linguistic disciplines.
