Scientists Develop Algorithm for Accurate Financial Time Series Forecasting
Researchers at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science benchmarked more than 200,000 model configurations for predicting financial asset prices and realised volatility, showing that performance can be improved by filtering out noise at specific frequencies in advance. This technique increased accuracy in 65% of cases. The authors also developed their own algorithm, which achieves accuracy comparable to that of the best models while requiring less computational power. The study has been published in Applied Soft Computing.

Оптимизация подходов к обучению написанию проектов научного исследования на английском языке в неязыковом вузе: когда на помощь приходят сетевые тренажеры

С. 439–443.
Dugartsyrenova V.

This paper reports the results of the development and implementation of an online tutor aimed at facilitating academic writing instruction to EEL students from non-linguistic programs. The tutor was designed as a technology-enhanced learning aid offering students support with writing English language research proposals to diploma projects. The online content included genre-based input materials and a variety of self-check exercises. Participants were 4th year students enrolled in an academic writing course at the faculty of world economy and international affairs of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. To examine the affordances of the online tutor and its effects on participants’ learning gains, students’ actual writing pieces were analyzed. Findings point to participants’ improvement in genre-based academic writing and underscore the potential of the tutor for supporting EFL learners’ autonomous efforts at academic writing. This paper contributes to current research on the development and implementation of technology-based tools to facilitate academic writing instruction to EFL students from non-linguistic disciplines.

Мальков М. Д., Alekseev D., Laboratorium. Журнал социальных исследований 2025 Т. 17 № 1 С. 58–92
Existing studies often assume the existence of a unified concept of plagiarism, charac-teristics of which can be identified, formalized in a normative act, and then effectively disseminated among teachers and students. However, in reality “plagiarism” breaks down into many varieties, and definitions of authorship and “integrity” of writing are largely determined contextually. That is why ...
