The practices of multi-actor child care is described and analyzed in the article. The empirical base is survey of Muscovites with children of 3 to 5 years old in November 2012. The results of the research have showed the significance of the kindergarten services as the institutional service that allowed parents to continue their professional careers. Along with that, the survey has revealed unequal distribution of child-care duties between mothers and fathers. According to opinions of parents, mothers are perceived five times as more involved into child-care than fathers. It is adjusted to the fact of different strategies of job search and placement. Mothers find a job with working hours that is in accordance with preschool schedule, fathers don’t taking into account this point. The policy of compensation for families which children don’t attend the kindergarten is discussed in the conclusion.
"Education in Modern times: from criticism of traditional authority to new idea of the person" This study is devoted to works of British philosophers of the XVII century - Tomas Hobbes and John Locke , who had a significant influence on the development of philosophy and history of childhood. Thanks largely to their works, the childhood was conceived as a historical and cultural phenomenon without which and his I (Me) some modernization of society is impossible. The Revolution in public perceptions of the child and the opportunity to think the child as adult in the context of the liberal demands of freedom and equality are directly related in the work of Hobbes and Locke with the deconstruction of paternalistic power and with the problem of interpretation of subjectivity and identity of Me in the new cultural and political meaning.
The book is prepared by a group of leading russian and finnish experts on the field of labor law and social security law, and includes research of the most important problems and issues of the protection of social and labor rights in Russia and Finland. This four-volume set maps the emerging European family law. It is intended to serve as a resource for anyone interested in this area of law, as well as a basis for teaching on comparative and international family law courses. In the second volume the changing concept of ‘family’ and challenges for domestic family law are analysed in 21 different jurisdictions, in 16 chapters. All contributions look at ‘horizontal’ family law (the law concerning the relationships between adults), ‘vertical’ family law (the law concerning the relationships of adults and children) as well an ‘individual’ family law (the law on names and gender identity).
Several approaches to the concept of fatherhood present in Western sociological tradition are analyzed and compared: biological determinism, social constructivism and biosocial theory. The problematics of fatherhood and men’s parental practices is marginalized in modern Russian social research devoted to family and this fact makes the traditional inequality in family relations, when the father’s role is considered secondary compared to that of mother, even stronger. However, in Western critical men’s studies several stages can be outlined: the development of “sex roles” paradigm (biological determinism), the emergence of the hegemonic masculinity concept, inter-disciplinary stage (biosocial theory). According to the approach of biological determinism, the role of a father is that of the patriarch, he continues the family line and serves as a model for his ascendants. Social constructivism looks into man’s functions in the family from the point of view of masculine pressure and establishing hegemony over a woman and children. Biosocial theory aims to unite the biological determinacy of fatherhood with social, cultural and personal context. It is shown that these approaches are directly connected with the level of the society development, marriage and family perceptions, the level of egality of gender order.
