The article is devoted to the processes of integration and disintegration in Boeotia, where Thebes was a key centre. The chronological framework of the study is from the Hellenistic period to the twentieth century AD. During this time, there have been significant changes in ethnic, socio-economic, and religious terms. The paper highlights the natural factors that influenced the formation and development of Thebes as the largest centre of Boeotia. It also traces the political history of integration and disintegration in the region.
