Древнеисландское rekkr ‘муж, воин’ и дифференциация синонимов в общегерманском поэтическом языке
The article explores parallels in the semantic distribution of the poetic synonym ‘man, warrior’ rinc/ rekkr in Old English and Old Norse poetry. The use of Old English rinc is clearly associated with inferiority or weakness of the hero (sleeping, wounded, old, immobilized; not brave enough, unsuccessful, etc.). In the Old Norse Elder Edda, the specificity of the synonym is blurred, although contexts with a derogatory function (insulting an opponent, mocking an opponent, demonstration of superiority) can be come across. There are semantic analogues to the Eddic and Old English poetic contexts in skaldic poetry. Parallels in the specific semantic distribution of synonyms for ‘man, warrior’ in Old Germanic languages should be traced back to the era of the existence of Proto- Germanic poetic language.
