HSE Researchers Show How Congenital Motor Disorders Affect Brain Development
Researchers from HSE University’s Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience have synthesised the findings of their previous studies on brain development in children with obstetric brachial plexus palsy and arthrogryposis. Their analysis shows that impaired motor function in early childhood not only limits children’s motor experience but also affects memory, categorical thinking, and information processing. The study has been published in Frontiers in Psychology.

Взаимосвязь социального капитала и аккультурационных ожиданий эстонцев в Эстонии: воспринимаемая угроза как медиатор

Культурно-историческая психология. 2021. Т. 17. № 4. С. 74–82.
Rodionov G.

This study examines the mediating role of perceived threat from other ethnic groups in the relationship between social capital and acculturation expectations of the host population. Consistent with Stefan's theory, the article examined the impact of three types of perceived threat: economic, cultural, and physical. The sample consists of ethnic Estonians born and living in Estonia (N = 309). The study examined how the perceived threat affects the relationship between social capital indicators (general trust, ethnic tolerance, binding and uniting social capital) and acculturation expectations (“multiculturalism”, “melting pot”, “segregation”). The results showed that physical perceived threat was a mediator of the relationship between ethnic tolerance and “multiculturalism”. With the increase in physical threat, the preference for “multiculturalism” decreased. Economic threat has been shown to mediate the relationship between general trust and “segregation”, as well as connecting social capital and “segregation”. In these two cases, the economic threat increased the likelihood of a preference for “segregation” by the host population. The mediative role of cultural threat was not confirmed in the present study.

Nikiforova K., Kulikova S., Platonova T. et al., Journal of Modern Foreign Psychology 2026 Vol. 15 No. 3 P. 98–113
The increasing prevalence of technology in daily life has led to a rising demand for IT specialists. In response, educational curricula have been adapted to incorporate coding lessons as early as primary school. However, the cognitive processes underlying computational thinking (CT) — the ability to apply a systematic problem-solving approach akin to computer logic — ...

Content, Consumer, Corrections: A Neurocognitive Model of Misinformation Processing
Monahhova E., Gorodnicheva Y., Morozova A. et al., Psychology. Journal of the Higher School of Economics 2026 Vol. 23 No. 3 P. 512–527
The rapid proliferation of misinformation in digital environments poses a serious threat to public health, political institutions, and public discourse. Behavioral research has accumulated substantial evidence on why people believe and share false information, yet individual studies address cognitive biases, social factors, or emotional processes largely in isolation. Additionally, the influential integrative frameworks that do ...

Chebotarev V., Andreyuk D., Elizarova Anastasiya et al., Procedia Computer Science 2022 Vol. 213 No. C P. 596–601
The dynamics of opinion in a group are of interest for a number of practical purposes. In particular, consensus helps and polarization of opinions hinders cohesive teamwork. Existing approaches for modeling opinion dynamics mostly do not take into account the dynamism of social relations in a group. This paper proposes an algorithm and a program ...

Ragimova A., Imanaeva M., Nieto Doval C. M. et al., Frontiers in Human Neuroscience 2026 Vol. 20 P. 1–15
Background: Motor resonance reflects the activation of the motor system during the observation of others’ actions and is considered a physiological marker of the human mirror neuron system (MNS). This study investigated whether the excitatory and inhibitory balance in the primary motor cortex, driven by glutamatergic and GABAergic mechanisms, is linked to the strength of ...

Human Agency and the Problem of Replicability in the Dynamic Neo-Structured World
Sorokin P., Mironenko I. A., Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Science, Technology, and Society, 2026.
Social reality is undergoing rapid transformations, giving rise to new challenges for both social theory and practice. One of these much-discussed challenges is the so-called replicability crisis, a notion that describes the failure of the social sciences and humanities to verify established research findings with new empirical investigations. In the related debates, it is argued ...

A quantum–analogue formalism for modeling supraliminal information processing
Lubashevsky I., Lubashevskiy V., Physica D: Nonlinear Phenomena 2026 Vol. 498 Article 135441
We develop a novel cloud-function formalism describing the dynamical relationship between sensory-information processing in large-scale brain networks (supraliminal processing) and the content of the mental representation of an observed object. The formalism combines elements of neural field theory for large-scale neural activity with the spatial characteristics of perceived objects and their embedding in the environment ...
