Based on a survey of 150 students at several universities, the paper analyses the authenticity of materials and authenticity of their use in ESP classes.
This article gives a description of language teachers’ cognition when assessing student writing. It also lists some factors that affect the objectivity and reliability of writing assessment. The author offers a system of sample tasks aimed at the development of language teachers’ professional cognitive and communicative skills needed when assessing student writing, as well as several recommendations for the design of a corresponding educational module for teachers.
The article describes the status of the Lead-in component of a Language for Special Purposes (LSP) electronic textbook module. The paper writers emphasize the significance of Lead-in within the module framework as it stimulates students’ cognitive and communicative activity at a single lesson as well as throughout a set of lessons. Various contents of the Lead-in section which depend on the module topic have been described. It has been proved that the Lead-in section predetermines the students’ further successful study and acquisition of the module material.
