Пространственные структуры постсоциалистических пригородов: функциональные и социальные центры субурбии Махачкалы
During the post-socialist period, most of the non-capital cities of the former socialist countries experienced stagnation or shrinking. However, some of them switched to rapid growth of both population and built-up territory. As a result, over 30 years of development under free market conditions, extensive suburban areas have formed. On the case of Makhachkala, we examined the internal structures of these new post-socialist suburbs. Based on field materials, the functional and social nuclei of the Makhachkala suburbia were identified, typologized, and compared.
