One of the solutions to reduce the burden on the environment is the efficient use of goods and the rejection of the sole possession of what is not used constantly, for example, from cars. Consumers move away from the concept of ownership to the concept of access to a service, which opens up new opportunities for responsible marketing.
Socially responsible (ethical) consumption in Russia is only taking its first steps and is fairly fragmented. In most cases, consumers engage in practices of one particular sort, whether ethical purchasing, ethical boycotts or separate collection of waste. The article presents the data of a representative empirical study aiming to identify specific qualities of citizens participating in various socially responsible consumption practices as well as factors facilitating Russians’ engagement in the above practices. The article purports that market-oriented practices, such as ethical purchasing and boycotts, and nonmarket ones, such as separate collection of waste, are driven by different factors and relate to the sphere of civil society in different ways. The article concludes that differentiated strategies need to be implemented in this area by NGOs and management groups of various levels.
Noticeable transitions in the models of consumer decision-making have been observed in the developed countries over the past 20 -30 years. Consumers “vote with their money” against unseemly business practices which cause sufficient damage to the environment, people and animals. Gradually innovative consumer practices are evolving in the less developed countries. This paper for the first time presents a data analysis examining the positions of several key actors in the development of new consumer practices in Russia: citizens, NGOs, businesses and government. Based on the analysis of drivers and barriers that affect the involvement of Russians in the new consumer practices and drawing on the research of views held by other institutional actors regarding the place and direction of relevant activity of their group and co-actor groups, the paper identifies divergences in the social mechanism associated with fostering innovative consumer practices and maps out ways to reduce them
Sharing economy - the new and contradictory phenomenon, which is caused by the appearance of the beginning of widespread use of new technologies in business. Despite its recent origin, it is characterized by the rapid development of sharing economy, which is the cause of increased media attention to the phenomenon. However, in the academic community interested in the comprehensive study of this economic system is just beginning to emerge. The article attempts to highlight the sharing economy in a separate category of economic analysis, consider its main characteristics and activities.
The authors develop a definition of the sharing economy as a new business model. The article analyzes and systemizes different approaches to understanding this term, highlights its key components. Also, the authors discuss a number of factors affecting the consumers’ behavior in the era of the digital economy, highlight key trends in the market of the collabo-rative consumption. As a result, based on the online-survey data, the authors identify the most popular services of the sharing economy for Russian consumers.
The paper examines the structure, governance, and balance sheets of state-controlled banks in Russia, which accounted for over 55 percent of the total assets in the country's banking system in early 2012. The author offers a credible estimate of the size of the country's state banking sector by including banks that are indirectly owned by public organizations. Contrary to some predictions based on the theoretical literature on economic transition, he explains the relatively high profitability and efficiency of Russian state-controlled banks by pointing to their competitive position in such functions as acquisition and disposal of assets on behalf of the government. Also suggested in the paper is a different way of looking at market concentration in Russia (by consolidating the market shares of core state-controlled banks), which produces a picture of a more concentrated market than officially reported. Lastly, one of the author's interesting conclusions is that China provides a better benchmark than the formerly centrally planned economies of Central and Eastern Europe by which to assess the viability of state ownership of banks in Russia and to evaluate the country's banking sector.
The paper examines the principles for the supervision of financial conglomerates proposed by BCBS in the consultative document published in December 2011. Moreover, the article proposes a number of suggestions worked out by the authors within the HSE research team.

At present many industries reveal tendency for setting up of vertically integrated companies (VIC) the structure of which unites all technological processes. This tendency proved its efficiency in oil industry where coordination of all successive stages of technological process, namely, oil prospecting and production -oil transportation - oil processing - oil chemistry - oil products and oil chemicals marketing, is necessary. The article considers specific features of introduction of "personnel management" module at enterprises of oil and gas industry.
