АКАДЕМИЧЕСКАЯ ГРАМОТНОСТЬ КАК ФАКТОР ИНОЯЗЫЧНОЙ ПРОФЕССИОНАЛЬНОЙ ПОДГОТОВКИ

The paper analyzes еру issues of teaching English for professional purposes for students of a research-intensive university. The author argues that academic literacy development seems to be a key factor in the context of professional language education. It is necessary to take into account the role of academic literacy while defi ning aims and goals of teaching English for professional purposes in a university. The paper aims at defi ning, analyzing the structure, key features and the role of academic literacy in the context of teaching English for specifi c purposes. A model of academic literacy is suggested as a basis for developing pedagogical approaches in an English as foreign language classroom
