Слово и понятие “гражданин” в русском языке XVIII в. (К вопросу о лингвистической основе истории понятий)
The history of concept “citizen” in Russian language has been the object of multiple studies. The question always was: since when does the word grazhdanin (citizen) not mean the same as the word gorozhanin (bourgeois)? Whereas the question should be raised differently: why grazhdanin and gorozhanin are two different words in contemporary Russian language? The peculiarity of Russian concept of citizen is that it implies the opposition of Slavonic and Russian forms. This opposition is crucial to the Russian culture. It was the factor that made the Russian concept of citizen differ from the same concept in other European languages.
