Объективное и субъективное благополучие: опыт сравнительного анализа стран Центральной Азии, России и Беларуси

Карабчук Т. С., Сальникова Д. В.

This paper analyzes objective and subjective well-being in 2004 - 2011 using the evidence of Central Asia. We compare the results with the corresponding indicators in Russia and Belarus. Subjective well-being indicators are differentiated by the key socio-demographic characteristics. The paper reveals the following paradox: the objective indicators in the Central Asian countries are rather low, while the subjective well-being, measured by life satisfaction and satisfaction with the current financial situation, is high. The authors discuss the reasons for this discrepancy.
