Как юмор помогает россиянам справляться с неопределенностью, санкциями и пессимизмом?
Modern socio-economic and political transformations, accompanied by sanctions pressure and instability, increase the urgency of finding adaptation mechanisms capable of maintaining emotional balance and social stability. The research is aimed at studying the role of humor as a tool of psychological adaptation of Russians to the prevailing conditions of uncertainty. As part of the study, an online survey of 409 respondents aged 18 to 81 was conducted in 2024. Scales were used to diagnose styles of humor, life satisfaction, emotional intelligence, and dispositional optimism. Statistical data processing included factor and correlation analyses. The results of the study showed that adaptive humor styles — affiliative and self—supportive - are positively associated with indicators of optimism, emotional awareness and social adaptation. Maladaptive styles such as aggressive and self-deprecating demonstrate short-term effectiveness in reducing stress, but are associated with low levels of life satisfaction and emotional intelligence. Humor is an effective adaptation tool, but its effectiveness depends on the style used. Adaptive humor styles contribute to strengthening social cohesion and psychological stability, which is important in conditions of instability.
