Распространенность потребления алкогольной продукции в Российской Федерации: анализ тенденций в 2019-2023 гг.
The study assesses the dynamics of the prevalence and structure of alcohol consumption in Russia by age, gender and regions. The data source is the microdata databases of the Sample Survey of the Health Condition of the Population conducted by Rosstat in 2019-2023. The assessment of the dynamics of alcohol consumption is based on the analysis of trends obtained by linear approximation of time series of data in all necessary dimensions. The direction and pace of trends were estimated by the coefficients of the computed models.
In 2019-2023 the proportion of the population consuming alcohol was decreasing. The rate of decline was greater among women and younger age groups than among men and middle-aged and older people. At the same time, changes in the structure of alcohol consumption were more modest and could not be detected in the population as a whole. Steady growth in the proportion of beer, wine and hard drinks consumed among all alcohol users occurred at the level of individual age groups: the share of hard drinks consumed decreased steadily among young people and increased among older people, while among the latter the share of beer consumers also increased and the share of wine consumers decreased. The number of regions where steady dynamics in the structure of alcohol consumption were observed was rather modest and they did not form spatial patterns.
The study made it possible to evaluate trends in alcohol consumption among the Russian population in 2019-2023 and to identify regions and population groups for which it makes sense to design and implement targeted measures aimed at reversing relatively adverse trends in alcohol consumption.
