At HSE University–St Petersburg, Experts Discuss How AI Changes Tourist Routes and Cultural Heritage
Neural networks are no longer simple travel assistants; now they decide what to include on the route and what to skip. Artificial intelligence changes how people perceive a place and shapes the image of tourist centres. At the II International Scientific and Practical Conference ’Information Technologies in the Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage,’ researchers discussed who controls algorithmic solutions and in what ways, and whether authentic traditions get lost in them.

Sandpile Cellular Automata with Manna Rule on the Chung-Lu Graph: Application to X Social Network
Dmitriev A., Kornilov V., Batienkov R., Lecture Notes in Civil Engineering 2026 Vol. 886 P. 249–255
Numerous studies have provided compelling evidence that the probability distribution of avalanche sizes follows a power law, and that 1/f noise is present in the stochastic dynamics of landslides. We present a theoretical explanation of these phenomena within the framework of self-organized criticality theory, proposing a discrete-time model in the form of a sandpile cellular ...

Sandpile Cellular Automata with Manna Rule on the Chung-Lu Graph: Application to X Social Network
Dmitriev A., Shulman I., Lebedev A., Studies in Computational Intelligence 2026 Vol. 1265 P. 266–273
A discrete-time model is presented for the self-organization of the X/Twitter social network to the edge of a phase transition, characterized by avalanche-like propagation of information in the network. The model is based on the analogy between the critical dynamics of the X social network and sandpile cellular automata with Manna rule on the Chung-Lu ...

Неравновесное состояние в квазиодномерных сверхпроводящих каналах
Arutyunov K., Kharitonov I. A., Petrosyants K. O., JETP Letters 2026 Vol. 124 No. 6 P. 1–16
Superconducting properties of metallic micro- and nanowires can be entirely different from those of bulk superconductors. Of particular interest is the nonequilibrium current-induced state of a quasi-one-dimensional superconducting channel. The most interesting phenomenon here is the stepped I–V characteristic, explained by a process known as phase slip center activation. If the origin of such step-like ...

When universal machine learning models fail in capacitance prediction for carbon-based supercapacitors: Leakage-aware validation and electrolyte screening
Makarov D. M., Kalikin N., Fashchevsky K. A. et al., Electrochimica Acta 2026 Vol. 579 Article 150159
Machine learning (ML) has become a powerful tool for accelerating the development of carbon-based supercapacitors; however, most published models assume that a single predictive framework can describe both conventional porous carbons and hybrid carbon electrodes. Here, we test this assumption using a comprehensive benchmark dataset and an extended literature-curated dataset enriched with synthesis- and electrolyte-related descriptors. Three ML algorithms ...

Criticality of a pseudospin phase transition
S. A. Andreeva, Orlov O. V., A. V. Shchepetilnikov et al., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2026 Vol. 114 No. 6 Article 065420
We investigate the temperature dependence of the pseudospin phase transition at filling factor 𝜈=2 in the quantum Hall regime. Experiments were performed on a high-quality, wide AlAs quantum well, where the pseudospin degree of freedom arises naturally from the near degeneracy and equivalence of the two conduction-band valleys. The anisotropic 𝑔-factor inherent to AlAs enabled independent measurement of ...

Гибридизация ферромагнитного и циклотронного резонансов в двумерной электронной системе на ферромагнитной пленке
Zabolotnykh A., Zagorodnev I., Kalyabin D. et al.,

Chiral excitations and the intermediate-field regime in the Kitaev magnet 𝛼−RuCl3
Sahasrabudhe A., Mikhail A. Prosnikov, Koethe T. et al., Physical Review Research 2024 Vol. 6 No. 2 Article L022005
In the Kitaev magnet 𝛼⁢-RuCl3, the existence of a magnetic-field-induced quantum spin-liquid phase and of anyonic excitations is controversially discussed. We address this elusive, exotic phase via helicity-dependent Raman scattering and analyze the Raman optical activity of excitations as a function of magnetic field and temperature. The hotly debated field regime between 7.5 and 10.5T is characterized by ...

Seidov S., Pugach N., Sidorenko A., Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology 2025 Vol. 16 P. 1668–1676
In this work we consider a spin model composed of a single spin and connected to an infinitely coordinated Ising chain. Theoretical models of this type arise from various fields of theoretical physics, such as theory of open systems, quantum control, and quantum computations. In the thermodynamic limit of an infinite chain, we map the ...

A. V. Shchepetilnikov, Khisameeva A. R., Nikolaev G. A. et al., Physical Review B: Condensed Matter and Materials Physics 2023 Vol. 107 No. 19 Article 195415
We study the origin of the anomalous spin resonance detected electrically in a strongly correlated two-dimensional electron system. Such resonance reveals itself around nominally nonmagnetic even filling factors 𝜈 of the integer quantum Hall effect and is a consequence of strong electron-electron interactions. We directly demonstrate that while the spin resonance at odd 𝜈 manifests itself as an increase ...

A. V. Shchepetilnikov, Khisameeva A. R., S. A. Andreeva et al., Physical Review Letters 2024 Vol. 133 No. 9 Article 096301
We study the effect of the pseudospin ferromagnetism with the aid of an electrically detected electron spin resonance in a wide AlAs quantum well containing a high quality two-dimensional electron system. Here, pseudospin emerges as a two-component degree of freedom, that labels degenerate energy minima in momentum space populated by electrons. The built-in mechanical strain ...
