The influence of Western European literature and philosophy on Mikhail Prishvin’s worldview manifests itself at several levels: the culture of everyday life and reaction to external events, historical and philosophical reflection and dialogue of domestic and foreign cultures, cultural transfer and self-identification of the writer with it. The impact was especially evident during the period of the revolution and the Civil War, when, as a result of social and cultural anomie, it became necessary to search for a new self-identification, as well as to construct new creative strategies. Despite being rooted in the national culture, the writer considered the legacy of the West as a model that could help solve existing problems. At the same time, its negative aspects (Marxism) were also recorded. Also, monuments of high European culture were significant for the enlightenment mission, which was crucial for Prishvin.
