The article formulates the author's vision and some forecasts regarding: 1) the prospects for the development of the African continent in the future due to its rapid development and increasing role in the World System; 2) the geopolitical rivalry of the leading powers in Africa in the present and in the future; 3) the directions and opportunities for the development of Russian-African relations (including in connection with its own). It is shown that as the importance of Africa for the World System and individual major powers grows, competition for its markets, resources, and political support will also become tougher. Moreover, the faster Africa develops, the more active and acute the geopolitical struggle for influence in African countries and in Africa as a whole will be. Relations related to the expansion of mutual trade; Russian investments in the development of minerals, the energy sector, road construction, information technology, communications; military-technical cooperation; promotion of Russian geopolitical interests; mutual actions in the international arena were noted as important areas for the development of cooperation between Russia and African countries; cooperation in humanitarian fields (medicine, taking into account a possible new pandemic, culture, science, education, etc.).
