In the article the project-based learning technology in an engineering education is considered. The basic aspects of program engineers training, features of team formation are analysed. Positive and negative sides of project-based learning are allocated. Stages of works are reflected. The technology is approved within the limits of course «Software Engineering Capstone Project» at realisation Open Source Projects which customer became Joint-Stock Company "ROSA".
