The article attempts to examine the connection between acts of pagan reactions and political struggle in Scandinavia during the period of Christianization. Cases of linguistic factors and their socio-political context are considered: the circumstances of baptism, the personality of the king-baptist and the main directions of his policy. Special attention is given to the composition of supporters and opponents of the new faith during the attempts of Christianization
in the 10th century.
