Направления оптимизации российского календаря соревнований по биатлону
In connection with the current geopolitical situation, the politicization of the sports industry has become an undeniably obvious phenomenon, which has given rise to the non-trivial task for specialized structures of the Russian Federation and specialized sports institutions – maintaining the professional level of Russian athletes. One of the directions for achieving this task is the introduction of scientifically based approaches to optimizing the Russian competition calendar. The authors of the paper identified the optimal ratios between the number of stages with different levels of elevation changes and maximum climbs within the impact on athletes’ results. The authors compared the parameters of Russian and international stadiums involved in the 2022-2023 biathlon season and came to the conclusion that the Russian stadiums do not contribute to optimal parameters. The article offers recommendations for improving the Russian competition calendar. The proposed recommendations allow, firstly, to expand the geographic coverage of the sport as a whole, by increasing audience interest in sports facilities located in the European part of Russia; secondly, they provide an opportunity to increase the resource base through the construction and reconstruction of biathlon complexes; thirdly, they can help maintain and increase the level of professionalism of athletes, which will allow the Russian team to return to the international arena with minimal losses in the overall level of training. This study may be of interest to specialized sports associations, managers and government officials in the field of physical culture and sports, and also useful in planning the calendar of competitions for the biathlon sports season and the construction of new sports facilities in the Russian Federation.
