Выявление взаимосвязи параметров спортивных трасс и результатов биатлонистов
During the period of sanctions and removal of Russian athletes from international competitions, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and specialized sports unions are faced with the task to maintain the Russian athletes’ professional level. Biathlon is no exception. The authors were aiming to check the existence of a correlation between the parameters of the sports track and the results of athletes in order to create conditions close to international competitions in Russia during the sanctions period. The authors studied data for ten winter seasons of the World Cup stages, seven World Championships and three Winter Olympics and, using correlation analysis, found that there is an “average” correlation between elevation changes on the track and the net time of a biathlete, regardless of gender, and there is also a moderate correlation between the maximum climb on the track and the net time. In the work, the authors identified which combination of track characteristics contributes to the best sports result. This study can be useful in planning the competition calendar for the biathlon season as well as in building new sports objects in the Russian Federation.
