The International Olympic Committee is going through a crisis, the reason for which were violations of the WADA Anti-Doping Code, and the reasons lie in the inconsistency of the current governance structure of the international Olympic movement with the level of tasks set and the realities of the global economy.

On April 1, 2018, new standards of compliance with the code of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) came into force. They concern all kinds of sports. A very important amendment was made in one of the articles of the code entitled "Additional roles and responsibilities of the parties". These amendments provided WADA with the opportunity to introduce "proportional" sanctions against international federations and all other entities related to the organization of sporting events.
