Relazioni italo-russe nel contesto dell'aiuto militare della NATO all'Ucraina nel 2022
The article is dedicated to Italian-Russian relations in the context of NATO military aid to Ukraine in 2022. Whether today there is the prospect of developing ties between Russia and Italy is not an easy matter. However, reflections on this topic in the light of the coming to power of another new government on the Apennines are very useful. It is necessary to state the obvious thought: the level of bilateral cooperation between Russia and Italy from once very high positions has decreased significantly in recent years. Confirmation of this is the significantly reduced number of jointly implemented economic projects, as well as the intensity of the political summits. Italy, being a member state of the EU and NATO, cannot fully implement an independent foreign policy, entirely aimed at meeting all domestic needs. Any Italian government, in such circumstances, will act decisively exclusively on issues fully shared by the Euro-Atlantic Community. A vivid example of this is Rome's continued unconditional support for Ukraine and, as a consequence, the lack of visible prospects for the development of relations between Italy and Russia in such circumstances.
