In the current conditions of sanctions pressure on Russia and the associated transformations of the Russian economy, new scientifically based approaches to the formation of a sustainable development strategy that can withstand modern challenges and contribute to the further development of society and the country's economy are becoming necessary. It is shown that in the new realities, the further success of Russia's development largely depends on the achievement of the main goals of sustainable development, the successful search and use of the country's internal potential. This becomes the main guideline, and industry 4.0 defines new framework conditions for the implementation of the strategy for the development of society and the economy. On the other hand, in the context of the ongoing processes of building a new architecture of the world economy, the issues of interaction with foreign states, deepening and developing forms of interaction with friendly countries, and the formation of the country's international competitiveness in a multipolar world do not go off the agenda. Among the important areas are the issues of financing, the development of the tourism and hospitality industry with the expansion of the list of services provided, the formation of human capital, the preservation of cultural heritage.
