Article analyses self-edited and self-published school magazines and (wall-)newspapers of the Thaw period not only as a part of Samizdat that appeared in this time, but also in a context of educational methods of Soviet school. Several teachers suggested to use school “publishing houses” as an element of labor education and as an instrument for creation of healthy youth collective. At the same time self-edited and self-published periodicals created by teenagers without help and control from the adults were frequently disrupted by school administration. Analysis of Komsomol and Communist party documents, which criticized such initiatives, demonstrates that students' emancipation during “self-publishing” disturbed authorities non less than rebellious content of independent magazines.
