The article presents an overview of current research of the concept of «face» as a structural element of professional identity of a person. The issue of becoming a person as a professional and the peculiarities of his/her behavior within the framework of professional activity acquires new significance and relevance in modern realities. It is shown that for this reason, it becomes important to pay attention to new approaches in the study of professional identity of a person, determinants of its development, as well as mechanisms of its manifestation in situations of social interaction. The complex organization of the phenomenon of professional identity, which is increasingly beginning to be considered from the point of view of the socio-cognitive nature of its structure, is established. The importance of the study of the phenomenon as a relational level phenomenon is shown separately. The main part of the paper focuses on the «face» as a potentially inseparable element of a person's professional identity, as well as its influence on the dynamics and nature of a person's presentation of his/her professional identity in a situation of social interaction. It is established that the formation and presentation of professional identity, as well as its development cannot occur outside the context of social interaction between people in the framework of professional activity. It is shown that professional identity and the nature of its formation depend on the ways of its presentation, among which the «face», in particular, the strategy of preserving «face» takes a special place. It is found that the «face» is a significant factor in the situation of self-presentation, which plays an important role in business interaction. Separately, it was found that «face» as a structural component of professional identity of a person has a stable connection with the effects of social interaction, in particular, with the burnout syndrome of employees at work. The conclusion suggests steps to continue the study of the relationship between the phenomena of professional identity and «face», as well as the prospects for the application of theoretical findings in the framework of practical activities.
