Additional education of children (AEC) plays an important role in children's personal development, improvement of academic results and development of their abilities. The research results presented in the report reflect the scale and effects of the ongoing changes, which is especially important in the context of pronounced heterogeneity of the ECE system and weak study of a significant part of its important aspects.

Key trends in the development of the network of organizations implementing additional general education programs, specifics of the content of educational programs, staffing, financing and infrastructure of ECE are considered. The report is based on the data of the Monitoring of Education Economics conducted by the National Research University Higher School of Economics in the 2022/2023 academic year; it provides analytical data to support decisions in the field of ECE in the future. The study involved heads of supplementary education organizations, teachers, parents from 8 federal districts of the Russian Federation.

The results obtained show that the measures of support and prioritization of ECE implemented in recent years, together with the actions of organizations of additional education, allowed the system to get out of the stagnation state, in which it was in the first decade of the XXI century.

The material will be useful for heads of organizations of supplementary education, teachers, parents, as well as for all those who are interested in the issues of supplementary education of children.
