The course is designed for students of chemical universities learning English for specific purposes, as well as to a wide range of English language learners interested in chemistry. The aim of the course is to develop the English—speaking communicative competence to the level necessary for successful communication in academic and professional spheres. The course material provides the formation of academic and professional communication skills in English in oral and written forms, promotes the development of lexical and grammatical skills, as well as the improvement of critical thinking skills. The course uses materials from websites and documents of professional organizations, academic literature, as well as popular and scientific articles in the field of chemistry. The textbook deals with both general scientific and special topics related to the discipline "General Chemistry". The course fits for the 1st and 2nd year undergraduate students studying "Chemistry", whose English proficiency level ranges from B1 to B2 levels according to the European Classification of Levels of Language Competence CEFR.
