Scientists Develop Algorithm for More Reliable Processors in Data Centres
Researchers from HSE MIEM and Samara University have developed the LRF-3D algorithm to automatically bypass idle nodes in three-dimensional networks-on-chip. Thanks to its hierarchical architecture, the algorithm outperforms existing solutions in both speed and path accuracy, improving processor reliability for use in data centres, supercomputers, and AI computing. The source code and test results are publicly available.

Researchers Develop Method for Direct Generation of Regulatory DNA
Researchers at HSE University have developed a model for generating promoters and enhancers—DNA sequences that regulate gene activity. The model works directly with DNA nucleotides, without first transforming them into a continuous numerical representation. This solution could be useful for applications in synthetic biology and gene therapy. The study results were presented at the ICLR 2026 Workshop ‘Generative AI in Genomics (Gen^2): Barriers and Frontiers.’

Social Integration: At the Crossroads of Knowledge and Values
The International Laboratory for Social Integration Research (ILSIR) at HSE University studies the challenges faced by vulnerable groups and explores ways to help them participate fully in everyday life. To develop effective solutions, the laboratory’s researchers combine cutting-edge methods with practical fieldwork. In this interview with the HSE News Service, Laboratory Head Elena Iarskaia-Smirnova discusses the laboratory’s work.

Конструкты, измеряемые опросниками эмпатии Бойко и ЭмИн: взаимоотношения и генетические факторы

Экспериментальная психология. 2023. Т. 16. № 2. С. 203–217.
Жегалло А. В., Басюл И. А., Vlasov A.

A comparison was made between each other at the level of subscales of the Boyko empathy questionnaire and the EmIn questionnaire. Additionally, the subscales of the questionnaires were compared with the results of the genetic analysis of COMT, DRD4, 5HTR2A. It is shown that the subscales of the questionnaires are mutually complementary. The revealed relationships of gene polymorphism with a number of subscales of both the Boyko empathy questionnaire and the EmIn questionnaire as a whole do not contradict existing data on the mechanisms in the regulation of which the studied genes are involved. At the same time, empathy, as mea- sured by Boyko’s questionnaire, is obviously not a monolithic construct. We believe that the final indicator of EEI, measured by the EmIn questionnaire, should also not be considered as a monolithic construct.

Добродетель и порок: этические кодексы маргинальных сообществ современной России. Часть 2
Medushevsky A. N., Вопросы теоретической экономики 2026 № 2 С. 146–164
It is generally accepted that the basis of social and legal stability in any society is a consensus on vir tue — the fundamental values of proper behavior, ways of maintaining and reproducing them. And, conversely, the destruction of this consensus is a sign of the loss of stability and divergence of positions of social ...

Hypergraphs from multivariate connectivity: caCOH-based EEG/MEG representation
Vlasenko D., Saranskaia I., Zakharov D., European Physical Journal: Special Topics 2026 P. 1–16
Hypergraphs provide a natural framework for representing neurophysiological interactions distributed across sets of sensors. A key methodological question is how hyperedges should be defined from frequency-resolved electroencephalography/magnetoencephalography (EEG/MEG) data. We demonstrate a construction strategy in which hyperedges are obtained from canonical coherence (caCOH), an extension of coherence that estimates coupling between multidimensional signal spaces. To ...

Reconstruction of EEG signals using next-generation reservoir computing
Badarin A., Ratnikov F., Andreev A., European Physical Journal: Special Topics 2026 P. 1–10
EEG recordings are often affected by the loss or corruption of individual channels due to electrode detachment, poor scalp contact, or external interference. Such channels must be accurately reconstructed before further analysis. In this study, we investigate Next-Generation Reservoir Computing (NG-RC) as a data-driven approach for reconstructing corrupted EEG channels and compare its performance with ...

A pangenome reference overcomes the inherent limitation of any individual reference genome by integrating the variation present in a population. We present the Human Pangenome Reference Consortium’s (HPRC) Release 2 (HPRC2), an openly available, second phase pangenome that is an approximately fivefold expansion in genome number over HPRC Release 1 (HPRC1) and measurable improvement in ...

Dadinova L., Petoukhov M., Mozhaev A. et al., Crystallography Reports 2026 Vol. 71 P. 52–58
Bacterial chromosomes are tightly packed in the cells due to interactions with specific nucleoid-associated proteins. Among them, the IHF protein draws attention due to its presumed influence on intracellular crystallization processes, leading to bacterial resistance to drugs. The crystal structure of the IHF heterodimer is known only in complex with a short DNA fragment, whereas ...

A. Radygina, S. Kulikova, Herald of the Russian Academy of Sciences 2025 Vol. 95 No. 6 P. 963–970
Musical training has a significant impact on brain organization, leading to functional and structural adaptations that enhance auditory, visual, motor, and cognitive processes. This study investigates how extensive musical training shapes functional brain connectivity by comparing professional musicians and non-musicians. Using EEG phase-locking value (PLV) analysis, we examined neural synchronization across alpha, beta, and gamma frequency ranges during music ...
