‘In the Age of Technology, It Is Interesting to Look into the Past and Think about What We Can Take from It
Polina Tabakova decided to apply for a Philology degree at HSE in Nizhny Novgorod because she grew up in Mari El and did not want to move far away from the Russian forests. In an interview for the Young Scientists of HSE University project, she spoke about the genre of the campus novel, the existential drama of Kolobok, and a blackout version of Eugene Onegin.

HSE Scientists Develop Method to Compress Large Language Models Without Losing Quality
Researchers from the AI and Digital Science Institute at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new compression method for large language models such as GPT and LLaMA that reduces their size by 25–36% without additional training or significant loss of accuracy. This is the first approach to use mathematical transformations—specifically, rotations of model weights—to make models more amenable to compression with structured matrices. The study results have been published in ACL Findings 2025. The code is available on GitHub.

Mathematic modelling of electronically controlled filters of microwave, SubTHz and THz–bands on the base of graphene–and–dielectric multilayer structure

IEEE, 2019.
Смирнов И. А., Черкесова Л. В., Поркшеян В. М., Акишин Б. А., Синявский Г. П., Безуглов Д. А.

In the offered examination the mathematical modelling of interaction processes of electromagnetic waves with composite substances nanostructures and electrodynamic structures on the base of graphene and carbon nanotubes is made. Models are grounded on solution of diffraction boundary-value 3D problems for Maxwell's equations with electrodynamic boundary conditions. Principles of subTHz and THz frequency bands controlled arrangements construction - filters, modulators, polarizers, etc., on the base of nanostructures by type "graphene - dielectric", lattices by type "carbon nanotube-graphene", graphene meta-surfaces, etc., and also nonlinear parametric zonal transducers - amplifiers and generators on the base of graphene nanostructures are researched. Creation of radioelectronic instrumentation and equipment of new generation, capable to work in subTHz and THz frequency bands, will cause the rapid development of informational telecommunications of XXI-st century.

Membrane-integrated planar Schottky diodes for waveguide mm-wave detectors
Shurakov A., Belikov I., Anatoliy Prikhodko et al., СВЧ-техника и телекоммуникационные технологии, Россия 2021 No. 3 P. 34–34
We report on the technology of membrane-integrated planar Schottky diodes intended for use as part of waveguide mm-Wave detectors. The diode fabrication process mainly relies on selective etching of GaAs enabling the implementation of both a metallic suspended bridge terminated by a microscale Schottky contact to n-GaAs and a 140-200 μm thick SI-GaAs membrane underneath. ...

The paper is devoted to the problem of modeling general-language frequency using data of large Russian corpora. Our goal is to develop a methodology for forming a consolidated frequency list which in the future can be used for assessing lexical complexity of Russian texts. We compared 4 frequency lists developed from 4 corpora (Russian National Corpus, ...

Shurakov A., Prikhodko A., Mikhailov D. et al., Journal of Physics: Conference Series 2020 Vol. 1695 No. 1 Article 012156
In this paper we report on the results of investigation of efficiency of a microwave reflectometry for readout of a terahertz multipixel Schottky diode direct detector. Decent capabilities of the microwave reflectometry readout were earlier justified by us for a hot electron bolometric direct detector. In case of a planar Schottky diode, we observed increase ...

Site-specific photolabile roadblocks for the study of transcription elongation in biologically complex systems
Nadon J., Epshtein V., Cameron E. et al., Communications Biology 2022 Vol. 5 No. 1 Article 457
Transcriptional pausing is crucial for the timely expression of genetic information. Biochemical methods quantify the half-life of paused RNA polymerase (RNAP) by monitoring restarting complexes across time. However, this approach may produce apparent half-lives that are longer than true pause escape rates in biological contexts where multiple consecutive pause sites are present. We show here ...

Experimental results on THz radiation emission by periodic arrays of semiconductor GaAs-based nanowires upon excitation by ultrashort optical pulses are presented. The efficiency of THz radiation emission is found to increase due to the resonant excitation of cylindrical modes in a nanocrystal. The maximum value of THz field can be achieved at distances between nanowires ...

Evolutionary Adaptation of the Permanent Replicator System

In this paper, we examine the process of fitness landscape evolution of permanent replicator systems. The central hypothesis of this study is that the specific time of the evolutionary adaptation of the system parameters is much slower than the time of internal evolutionary dynamics. This assumption leads to the fact that evolutionary changes of the ...
