2023. № 1. С. 8–28.
Bakay E., Yusupova E., Antipkina I.

The article describes the analysis of students’ behavior when performing a computerized test of reading comprehension. On a sample of 2157 fourth graders in Krasnoyarsk, using the method of latent profile analysis, five typical profiles of students were identified based on combinations of variables: “average text reading time”, “number of quick answers”, “amount of time to read auxiliary text”, “total test time”. The identified groups of students are interpreted using the assessment results. The identified profiles will be useful for a deeper interpretation of the assessment results and as a practical basis for developing methods for a differential approach to teaching.

Generative AI and the balance of effort in group tasks: Appropriate, over-, and under-scaffolding
Korchak A., Hughes C., Costley J., Journal of Research on Technology in Education 2026 P. 1–17
Generative artificial intelligence (Gen-AI) is increasingly used in higher education, yet its role in collaborative learning remains unclear. This study examines how students use Gen-AI during group lesson-planning tasks in an undergraduate education course. Drawing on Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory, we introduce the concept of “an effort space” and apply the categories of appropriate, over-, and ...

Lysova-Golomzina E., Dobryakova M. S.,
The study focuses on the cognitive mechanisms associated with teachers’ work with new, conceptually complex material, both when they are experts in philological analysis and when they design the acquisition of subject matter. The scientific novelty of the article lies in its interdisciplinary approach, which allows for an explanation of the interaction between “threshold” subject ...

Lyu M., Omopekunola M., Wang F., / Series 2026.aimecon-wip.55 "Proceedings of the Artificial Intelligence in Measurement and Education Conference (AIME-Con)". 2026.
Large language models (LLMs) have been proposed as a substitute for field trials in itemdifficulty estimation, but evidence about where they succeed is usually drawn from a single test form. We compare LLM difficulty predictions across three task types that make different language demands, grammar cloze, semantic cloze and reading comprehension, on two operational Grade ...

Denisenko I., Petrenko O., Vasilyeva T.,

Classification Approach to Mapping Cultural Differences: An Illustration Using Survey Data from 60 Russian Regions
Nastina E., Sokolov B., / Series OSF "SocArXiv". 2025.
We argue that a classification-based approach to measuring cultural differences across countries or subnational regions is a promising complement, and sometimes an alternative, to the widely used dimensional method in cross-cultural research. The latter summarises cultural variation using continuous dimensions, for example, Hofstede’s famous individualism-collectivism dimension. However, this approach relies on strong parametric assumptions, which are ...

University professors note that students face difficulties in reading, especially when dealing with scientific texts. Yet the reasons why students have difficulties are studied, but there is no uniform categorisation of them or understanding of at what stage of reading these difficulties arise. Research focuses on reading in a foreign language, while reading in the ...

Three basic aspects of the operation of generative neural network models (generative artificial intelligence) are discussed in the article: the concept of a "token", the probabilistic nature of the generated response, and the concept of a "large model", the size of which ensures the pseudo-intelligent behavior of neural network chatbots. The issues of implementing generative models, areas ...
