HSE Scientists Train Neural Network to 'Hear' Faults in Electric Motors
Researchers at the AI and Digital Science Institute of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science have developed a new method—the Signature-Guided Data Augmentation (SGDA) framework—that achieves 99% accuracy in motor fault detection and 86% accuracy in fault classification. The application of this approach can reduce industrial equipment repair costs, minimise downtime, and improve production safety. The study results have been published in Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence.

Is It Possible to Predict a Citys Life Based on the Shape of Its Neighbourhoods?
Is it possible to predict, based on the configuration of streets and buildings, where a café will open or where traffic congestion will occur? Participants in the Spatial Analysis and Modelling of Urban Processes research and study group use open data and machine learning to identify universal patterns. Alexander Sheludkov and Eduard Somov discuss the purpose of comparing cities, the need for new forms of urban statistics, and how open data is transforming approaches to urban studies.

Проектные решения и моделирование температурных полей в системах теплоизоляции в основаниях автомобильных дорог в многолетнемерзлых грунтах

Транспортное строительство. 2022. № 3. С. 32–34.
Бессонов И. В., Bobrova E., Агафонова Н. З., Говряков И. С., Горбунова Э. А.

The features of the technology of production of crushed stone from foam glass on specialized lines are described. The analysis of the sorption characteristics of the material was carried out, the dependences of humidity and thermal conductivity, the coefficient of thermal conductivity increment for each percentage of humidity were determined. The results of experimental research presented in the article show that the foam glass crushed stone manufactured on specialized lines fully meets the requirements for the materials of the insulating layer. This material has low values of thermal conductivity and water absorption, it has high resistance to aggressive environments, good strength indicators. The calculation of temperature fields was carried out using a computer program THERM, based on the finite element method.

Rathish S., Andrey S. Vasenko, Thazhathenair A. et al., The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters 2026 Vol. 17 No. 18 P. 5386–5394
We demonstrate and rationalize the effect of Au nanoparticles (NPs) on the hierarchical g-C3N4/CeO2 heterojunction. g-C3N4/CeO2 decorated with monodispersed plasmonic Au NPs was synthesized. Detailed analyses showed that CeO2 nanocubes and monodispersed Au NPs were evenly distributed over the 2D g-C3N4 surface, forming a robust interface enriched with abundant active sites. The structure enabled efficient separation of photogenerated charge ...
