The main purpose of the article is to analyze the current state of economic and trade relations between Russia and China. The political prerequisites for the rapprochement of the two countries, the reasons for the reorientation of Russia's foreign economic and political interests to the East, in particular to China, are discussed in detail. Special attention is paid to the volume of trade, to the main items of export and import in bilateral trade, as well as the state of the investment and financial environment. The existing model of cooperation, its advantages and disadvantages for both sides and new areas for cooperation are analyzed too. “The Belt and Road Initiative”, the possibility of participation of Russia and other EEU countries in its implementation are also discussed. The article reveals the political and economic interests of Russia and China, the main problems in their bilateral relations and possible ways to overcome them, as well as further prospects for partnership and cooperation.
