Гендерная история советского Узбекистана в фотообъективе Макса Пенсона
This article is devoted to the art heritage and personality of the Uzbek photojournalist Max Penson. The study analyses his photographs as visible results of the success gender modernization in Soviet Central Asia. At the same time, the photographs reflected the aesthetics and personal style of Max Penson, characteristic of the era of Lenin and Stalinist modernization. The study focuses on the plots, themes and techniques that were characteristic of the photographer's work. In addition to visual sources, I use archival documents, memoirs, as well as articles by female employees of the women's departments from the «Kommunistka» magazine. In the research analyzes the propaganda component of Max Penson's photographs, substantiates their staged nature. Max Penson’s photos of the 1920s - 1930s demonstrated to the party elite and the international community imaginary achievements in the USSR gender policy. The photographs fixed in the minds of Soviet citizens the image of the radically changed «Soviet Orient», where the social and cultural women status stay at a high level and protected by the state.
