This paper describes the means that express the Engagement system as part of the general evaluation system in Russian and Serbian. The corpus work that is produced on the online comments of the two daily Russian and Serbian newspapers shows that the Engagements system is based on two linguistic domains: evidentiality and nonveridicality. The work is relevant for the current project that is analyzing the influence of the Engagement system on the evaluation/sentiment words and phrases in online comments.
